Ages away - no time to put upphotos of radiance or invergarry (they will appear). This was from early December which brought a strange mood to the beach at North Berwick late on Sunday. No wind, but an angry sea, and pink sky in the North East. This image was taken as a RAW with my new 28-135 lens.

Salisbury Crags from the Parliament
Now that the parliament's landscaping is finished, it is perfectly integrated withthe surrounding area. Here, the picture shows just how good it can look.
Princes St Gardens
Sunbathing in edinburgh in September - this has been a good summer. The grass around arthur seat is parched.
North Berwick Waves
This was another one from North Berwick: taken with the pentax when the Canon had been stowed away.
Scott Monument
I've always liked September subnlight, though I suspect that it's merely that I tend to be out when the light quality is at it's best. I took this at around 5.15pm

Green Woodpecker in Surrey
After a heavy rain shower (the first for weeks) this young (?) green woodpecker was hunting round for something - insects - or do they eat works like other birds.
Deer in Kilcreggan
Not ten yards from the house at Kilcreggan, happily sitting in the sun after feasting on some flowers.
Arran from Kilcreggan
An incredibly clear morning. Another shot showed the detail on these crags even more clearly but I liked the composition here better.
North Berwick Waves
A warm august afternoon at North Berwick, the sea seemed very clean, with seaweed in the sand (rather than on rocks). walking along in the shallows, I was very aware of the changing nature of the beach - soft and sandy, sandy and stones mixed, rocky, then finally very coarse sand.

Viking Hat
Up near the Heart of Midlothian, with the strong sunlight bouncing off the pavement, this little girl's hat was lovely.

Whinchat
The male and female took up their positions on the trees with the best vantage points and made an almighty racket to distract us. With a descending gloom (our wonderful summer) I had to use ISO 800. You can see it a little in the noise, but worth it to get a shutter speed without camera-shake.

Firth of Clyde
A wider view of Arran from Kilcreggan, showing the narrows of the Firth of Clyde in the foreground.
Peaks of Arran
I like this becuase although we were miles away, as the sun moved round into the west you could see some detail in the Northern slopes of (not Goat Fell, that's further round) these Arran peaks.

Hereford and the South
Last week we went down south for a trip round parts of England that I don't know well at all. The last 5 photos were all taken on that trip. Lovely weather and great scenery. I'm a convert.
The rogue blade of grass
Of all the photo's I took in this field, it was this one, with interrupted skyline which stood out - is it that it reminds me of the painting of Salisbury Cathedral?
Canada Goose
A confident Canada Goose at a service station on the M6. Shame the light didn't allow a greater depth of field.
The view from hay bluff.
The valley below hay Bluff provided some fantastic scenery, with the patchwork of fields stretching for miles and miles.

Coming back
I had a blog years ago when they were called 'web logs' but gave it up in 2001. In the interim I've tended to use wiki's to organise my thoughts but decided to come back to a weblog so that I could post pictures online in a convenient manner. This blog is ostensibly for that purpose, but there'll probably be other stuff in amongst it.
